'Specless' Adventure

Thursday, December 11, 2008

During the古晋教区新旧同工退休会( which was taken place in Santubong, Kuching), something unexpected happened to me.... Curious? ^^

When we arrived in Santubong on the first day, everything went well at first. We settled down, gathered in the guys' room as theirs are bigger(I guess because they need the space more than girls *ahem~~) , had our praise and worship and discussions. Then, BEACH!!!!

爱良led us in some of the outdoor activities: 'nose football', holding sea water in the mouth(yuck!), eggs-tossing... At last, the guys went to the beach and made themselves into a row of wall, facing their backs against the strong waves, waiting for the waves to smash into them. Looks like fun... So, playful Esther also joined in(with my glasses on!) I know, bad idea!! Before I knew it, my first wave came and.... BYE BYE Glasses~~ *sigh

At first, I was not used to as everything was a blur to me. It got worse when nightfall came. At first I felt a bit ashamed to have to depend on the rest of the team with even the simplest task like getting my own food or walking up the stairs at night... But I was really thankful for all my dearest brothers and sisters in Christ(新旧同工们) throughout this camp. Although I couldn't see clearly and thus couldn't participate in certain activities, they didn't exclude me. I had so much fun even when I'm 'blind'!

As I recalled what had happened during the camp, I realized that sometimes in life, whether serving in church or going about our personal lives, we will also encounter our own 'specless' adventure. We might face some difficulties which prevent us from moving forward as we could not see clearly what our future might be. We should not hesitate to ask for help because that is what brothers and sisters in Christ are there for- to love one another, to encourage one another as we serve our Lord.

To all my dearest mentor(旧教区职员), may you all continue to be the salt and light of your church and of the world.

To all my 同工们, let us embark this journey together and not only to help each another to grow in spiritually and friendship, but also to help the rest of the youths to be able to do the same!!

Agree with your statement, all of us will one day face our "specless"moment in life. just let the light of the world(Jesus) lead us our path... ^_^
